Parole In Place (Military Family Petitions)

Parole In Place, or PIP, is a program through which certain undocumented family members of  current or former U.S. military personnel can apply for lawful permanent residence, or a “green card”.  Further, PIP allows a qualifying immigrant to apply for lawful permanent residence in the United States without having to travel to her country of origin for a consular interview.

As a general matter, in order to qualify for PIP, an immigrant must be the spouse, parent or unmarried child under 21 years of age of a current or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces or of the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve.

PIP applications are reviewed on a case by case basis and there is no guarantee that an immigrant will be granted this relief even if he meets the basic requirements.  As such, PIP applicants are highly encouraged to include additional evidence demonstrating that they are persons of good moral character and, thus, deserving of a grant of PIP.  Immigrants who may be eligible to apply for PIP should consult with an immigration attorney to discuss their basic PIP qualifications and other personal factors that may weigh in their favor.

The attorneys of the Mercado Law Firm are available to discuss your PIP eligibility and additional facts unique to you that should also be included in your application.
